You are saying, “Really Jodi, a spelling mistake in the title”? No spelling mistake I really do mean MEAT Ernie.
Ernie is the owner/operator of Meat the Butcher in downtown Mount Forest, Ontario.
For several years I have purchased our steaks and sausages from Meat the Butcher and each and every time, I have been met with a warm welcome and a happy to serve Ernie.
Ernie started his butcher career at a local supermarket than decided to branch out on his own. The result is a well established, super clean, freshly stocked butcher in downtown Mount Forest.
After meeting Ernie and spending some time behind the scenes at Meat the Butcher, I have realized I tripped upon a small town gem! Ernie runs a clean shop based on small town values and products. As you will see from the pictures below, Ernie hosts several local vendors as well as some of his own favourites.
Ernie was born and raised in Mount Forest and if you are lucky, you might run into his Mom while in the store. You will not miss her, she has a lovely smile and well, Ernie looks like his Mom 🙂
So, lets talk about the products you will find at Meat the butcher. All the meat is local to the area. Ernie cuts his own meat and prepares his own sausages(might I say are deeeeelicious). You will notice when you shop at Meat the Butcher that the prices are more than competitive. That is because Ernie has not raised his prices in several years. The result is a fantastic dinner that we can all afford.
Not only will you find great deals on fresh meats but Meat the Butcher also provides frozen meats, fresh/frozen prepared meals and all the fixings to go with it. You will find coffee beans, chocolate, BBQ sauces, rubs, marinades, pickles, relishes, cheese(including curd), fresh milk both white and chocolate and all kinds of other neat snacks and side dishes including fresh Artisan bread! Seriously, what small town shop offers freshly made Orzo salad? Meat the Butcher does.
You won’t want to miss the really cool historical items that Ernie has received from his family over the years. They are proudly displayed above the meat counter. There are some cool stories to go along with them, just ask and Ernie will share their history.
If you have been to Mount Forest, Ontario and not been to Meat the Butcher, you are truly missing out on a great shop, run by a great guy with amazing products. If you have never been to Mount Forest, Meat the Butcher and Ernie are worth the trip.
